Betty Jane Lewis, 87, of Chillicothe, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.
Betty was born in rural Livingston county on September 3, 1923 to Edward F. Cooper and Sarah Jane Lamp Cooper.
She attended Meadville Schools until the 11th grade.
On December 3, 1957, Betty married Merle Austin Lewis in Brookfield, MO.
Betty worked at Livingston Manor as a CNA and also operated a day care in Chillicothe for 30 years.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Betty is survived by her children, Larry Wilburn of FL, Don Wilburn and wife, Marlene of Lineville, IA, Dixie Sharp of Brookfield, MO, Diane Hamilton of Utica, MO, Connie Keller and husband, Keith of Braymer, MO, Merle Lewis and wife, Sue, of Willowbrook, IL, Kathy Underwood and husband, Tom, of Chillicothe, Terry Lewis and wife, Lynn, of Chillicothe, Debbie Perry of Trenton, MO, Timothy Lewis and wife, Geneal, of Andover, KS, Gary Lewis and wife, Amy, of Laredo, MO; 27 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two children Joan Wilburn and Patricia McCrary; three grandchildren, Daniel Sinclair, Joseph Hollon and Jackson Lewis; two brothers, John Cooper and Russell Cooper; three sisters, Fleeta Boyd, Mildred Lee and Katie Baker; two sons-in-law, Ronnie Sharp and Dean Hollon.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
Burial will be at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Heritage Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
