Carl Francis Ireland, 72, of Hamilton MO, formerly of Chillicothe MO,
passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.
Carl was born May 17, 1942 in Chula MO, the son of Leroy Wilson and Lilian Gertrude Mace Ireland.
On January 27, 1973 Carl married Vickie Lynn Gillilan. She preceded him in death in December 2006.
Carl worked for many area trucking companies as a long haul driver. He enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany where he attained the rank of E-3.
He was a member of the American Legion in Chillicothe and he enjoyed fishing and drinking coffee with his friends whenever possible. The biggest joy in his life was being with his grandchildren and children.
Carl is survived by four children, Anthony Wade Gillilan (Sabrina) of Independence MO, Tim Ireland of Independence, MO, Sandy Renee Ireland of Hamilton MO, and James David Ireland of Chillicothe; 12 grandchildren, Levi, Cassi, Trisha and Kyler Ireland, Madison “Maddy” Gillilan, Courtney “Corkie” Ireland, Austin Ireland Eckert, Taylor and Mercedes Ireland, Justice and Jacklyn Ireland and Matthew Ireland; 2 great grandchildren; a brother Otis Ireland of Chillicothe; two sisters, Donna Hatfield of Lee’s Summit MO and Jean Forte of Excelsior MO; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Vickie; a son Carl Emery Ireland; Brothers Oscar, Marvin “Tom” and Jack Ireland; and a sister Elsie Marcel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe MO.
Burial will be at Utica Cemetery, Utica, MO.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May27, 2014 at Heritage Funeral Home.
