Chester (Chet) Lewis Lawson, 74, of Mt. Vernon, MO, formerly of Chillicothe, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at the MO Veteran’s Home in Mt. Vernon, under the care of his family and Season’s Hospice.
Chet was born in Jamesport, MO on September 9, 1937 the son of Ray Enoch Lawson and Opal Pearl Coen Lawson.
He was a graduate of Jamesport High School.
Chet was a United States Navy Veteran, serving from September 1955 until August 1958 attaining the rank of Petty Officer Third Class.
On July 7, 1967 Chet married Eva Lorraine Baugher in the Bridal Cave at Camdenton, MO. She preceded him in death on September 14, 2007.
Chet worked for many years as a parts man for Cooke Sales & Service in Chillicothe and he was also the owner and operator of Chet’s Lock and Key Service in Chillicothe.
He was very active in the Chillicothe Lions Club and was a member of the Livingston County Fair Board.
Chet is survived by two daughters, Misty Lightner Pankey and husband, Jeffrey, of Ozark, MO and her children, Lindsey, Katie & Cody; Cindy Vale and husband, Doug, of Minneapolis, MN and their children Sarah and Cassie; a foster daughter, Gloria Minnick of Kansas City, MO; three brothers, Lester Lawson of Vista, CA, Leslie Lawson of Chillicothe and Lowell Dean Lawson of Shreveport, LA; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lorraine and a brother, Leonard Lawson.

There has been a cremation.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
There will be a private burial at a later date.
