Donald Richard Olson, 88, of Chillicothe, MO, formerly of Dawn, MO passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Morningside Center in Chillicothe.
Donald was born August 31, 1925 in Clarion IA the son of Ole Severin Olson and Anna Talette Huus Olson. He was a graduate of Clarion High School.
He was a WWII veteran, serving in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Ashtabula, which was an oil tanker, from January 29, 1944 thru May 11, 1946.
On September 4, 1946 Donald married Janice Fae Thomas in Clarion, Iowa. She preceded him in death on June 9, 2009.
Donald and his wife were life-long farmers in Iowa, Minnesota and finally in the Dawn, MO area.
He was a member of the Braymer Baptist Church, Braymer MO and he enjoyed anything relating to farming and especially spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Donald is survived by four sons, Jerry Olson of Dawn MO, Eugene Olson, of Dawn, Brian Olson and wife, Neva of Chillicothe and Alvern Olson and wife, Beth of Bella Vista, AR; two daughters Edna Riley and husband, Dale of Geneva, NY and Neota Erdahl and husband, Dennis of Lacey, WA; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; brothers, Arnold Olson, Phillip Olson Luther Olson and Stanley Olson; sisters Selma Lee and Signora Stolhammer; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Janice; a son Daryl Olson; 5 brothers, Orville, Merle, Paul, Joseph and Stanley Olson; 2 sisters, Jeanette and Arlene.

Funeral services will be held at Braymer Baptist Church, Braymer, MO on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, MO.
A family visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, MO on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
