Doris Ilene Guilford, age 92, of Morningside Center, Chillicothe, MO died Sunday, April 10 2011 at Morningside Center.
She was born February 6, 1919 in Wheeling, MO the daughter of Leslie Arnold Dimitt and Nellie Edith Harper Dimitt.
On June 21, 1941 she married Elmo Guilford from Hale, MO in Nevada, MO. He preceded her in death on December 3, 1993.
Mrs. Guilford attended Wheeling High School graduating in 1937 and then attended two years of college in Warrensburg, MO
After their marriage they lived at Hale until 1944, when they moved to a farm south of Wheeling. Following Mr. Guilford’s death, she moved to the Meadville Plaza, then to Morningside Center Assisted Living in 2006.
Mrs. Guilford was a school teacher. She taught 1939 at Leaton School, Hale, MO, 1940 at Breckenridge, MO, 1942 back at Leaton, 1949-1951 at Meadville, MO, then substituted at Meadville for several years. She retired after 12 years at the Girls State Training School, Chillicothe, MO. She then did babysitting for 10 years. She was a member of Wheeling Christian Church.
She enjoyed her retirement years, crocheting for family and friends until her death.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd Arnold and Linda of Meadville; two grandchildren, Pamela Kaye Allison and husband Bill of Meadville and Brett Arnold Guilford of Meadville. Five great grandchildren Jeremy Allison, Amanda Allison, Shelby Guilford, Sheldon Guilford and Sheridan Guilford; one nephew Robert Leslie Dimitt Jr; one niece Heather Dimitt and a step nephew Mike Gillian and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert Leslie Dimitt.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Wheeling Christian Church, Wheeling, MO
Burial will be at Wheeling Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, MO.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2011.
