Edward "Shorty" Lee Barron, a lifelong resident of the Dawn community, passed away on February 2, 2025, in Cameron, Missouri. A graveside memorial service will be held at Enon Baptist Church on Saturday, March 8, at 10:00 a.m.

Shorty was born on January 14, 1947, to Nelson and Una "Wooden" Barron in Carroll County on his family's dairy farm. He spent his entire life in the Dawn-Enon community. After graduating from Tina-Avalon High School, he went on to serve his country in the Vietnam War. He was a lifelong farmer and later was a truck driver. He was a member of Enon Church.

Shorty had a gentle and easygoing personality. From a young age, he was known for his strong work ethic, singing voice, and love of good deals. He was always willing to pitch in whenever needed. He wasn't one for a lot of fuss, often joking about what should be done with him, He enjoyed country music, fishing on the lake, and had a special fondness for camping-though his favorite trips were often the ones just down the road.

Most of all, Shorty loved his family. He leaves behind his sons, Anthony Edward Barron, of the home, and Terry Barron and wife Nina of Hardin, Missouri. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, his brother Teddy Barron, sisters Pat Corbin and Peggy Statton, and many nieces and nephews.

Shorty was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Doreen Hussey, his daughter Amy Jill Barron, and his great-granddaughter Broox Barron.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
