George Walter Hightower, 101, a life-long resident of rural Mooresville MO passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at his home, under the care of his family and St. Luke’s Hospice.
George was born November 15, 1912 in Mooresville, the son of William Walter Hightower and Bertie Fritz Hightower. He was a graduate of Mooresville High School.
He married Hazel Lucille Gilliland on July 1, 1934 and after 69 years of marriage she preceded him in death in September 2003.
George and Hazel farmed all of their lives in the Mooresville area.
He enjoyed spending time with his family also, fishing & having fish fries, hunting and riding his four-wheeler.
George is survived by five grandchildren, Connie Koehly and husband Gary of Chillicothe MO, Cindy Radar of Oak Grove MO, Bill Cummings and wife Debbie of Chillicothe, Tim Cummings of St. Louis and David Hightower of Mooresville; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Hightower of Utica, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Hazel Lucille Hightower, daughter, Peggy Sams; a son William (Bill) Hightower, and grandson Douglas Hightower.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Heritage Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Mooresville Cemetery, Mooresville, MO.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Heritage Funeral Home.
