Harold Richard Timmons 91 of Hale, Missouri passed away at Indian Hills Nursing Home (Stonebridge Community) of Chillicothe on Monday the 22nd of July 2024. Richard was born August 19th, 1932 the son of Harold Nelson and Norma Lee (Jamison) Timmons on a farm near Wheeling, MO.
Richard attended New York Country School north of Wheeling and graduated in 1949 from Wheeling High School.
He served his country for 2 years in the US Army 1952-1954 during the Korean War. Upon his discharge he worked with his dad with farming. In November 1955 he started working at Fisher Body (General Motors) in Leeds Plant, Missouri. In June 1956, he went to work in Olathe, Kansas for Delco-Remy (General Motors). He worked there for 32 years retiring in 1988.
On April the 21st 1956, Richard was united in marriage to Shirley Irene Kerns of Avalon, Mo at the Church of Christ in Hale, Missouri. To this union, they were blessed with two children. A son, Terry and a daughter, Diane. On April the 21st 2016, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Richard enjoyed hunting and farming with his son and grandsons. He also treasured spending time with his loving family.
Richard is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley; their children Terry Timmons (Gina Timmons) Sunray, Texas; and Diane Timmons of Merriam, Kansas. Two grandsons, Tyler Timmons of Dumas, Texas, Travis Timmons of Sunray, Texas. One sister Julia (Tiny) Tiemeyer of Meadville, Mo, Including brother-in-law Donald Gray, Springfield, Nebraska, and several nieces and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold, and Norma Timmons. One brother and sister-in-law. Melvin and Lucille Timmons, one sister and brother-in-law. Veta and Arthur Dean. Joan Gray, Elmer Tiemeyer and three nephews.
A Visitation service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday the 25th from 5pm to 7pm.
Funeral service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home in Chillicothe, MO on Friday the 26th at 10:30am with a burial to follow at Avalon Cemetery, Avalon, Missouri.
Memorials in honor of Richard may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Bella-Brooke Day Care.
