Hazel Testa

Hazel Fenelle Teata of Chillicothe died Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, MO.

Hazel Testa was born on May 15, 1918 at Chula, MO, the daughter of Harry J. and Ethel (Smith) Burgess. She attended Chula Presbyterian Church during her youth.

Hazel attended Smith School and graduated from the Chula High School, Chula, Missouri. Following graduation she worked locally at Pat’s Diner where she met Ivan Bigelow. Hazel married Ivan in 1939 and from this union was born their daughter Patricia Ann (Bigelow) Wheelbarger. Hazel later married Isaac “Al” Testa and resided in Santa Ana, California for the majority of her adult life. She was a homemaker and worked part-time at JC Penny Company. Hazel enjoyed travel, baseball, and working crossword puzzles.

Hazel is survived by her daughter Patricia Wheelbarger and husband Ralph; two granddaughters Jennifer Miller and Sherri Wheelbarger; three great-grandchildren, Adam Miller and wife Megan, Tylee Wheelbarger, and Abby Maher; and three great-great-grandchildren Austin Dewey, Anna Dewey and Kerrigan Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Al; sister Nina Girdner and brother-in-law Raymond Girdner and niece Mary Girdner.

There will be no formal services. Cremation will occur followed by burial next to her husband Al at Riverside National Cemetery in California. Memorials may be made to Operation Help and mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington Chillicothe, MO 64601.
