Howard Lyle Beaird, 85 of Chillicothe, MO passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Life Care Center of Carrollton MO.
Howard was the fourth son of Arley Eli Beaird and Gertrude Harris Beaird and was born in rural Livingston County near Wheeling MO on January 30, 1927. He was a graduate of Wheeling High School.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany during WWII. He served from November 1945 thru September 1948.
On March 31, 1950 Howard married Betty Jo Dawkins at her mother’s home in Chillicothe. They were married 61 years and she survives of the home.
Howard was a farmer and business man in Livingston and Linn Counties . He owned and operated the Skelly Truck Stops in Brookfield, MO. He was also formerly a car salesman and police dispatcher of Brookfield.
He was a member of the Wheeling Baptist Church, Moila Shrine, VFW, and both the Chillicothe and Brookfield Eagles and Elks.
He is survived by his wife Betty Jo of the home; son, William Lyle Beaird of Independence MO; daughters, Nancy Jo Parks (John) of Chillicothe and Linda Carol Chittum (Robert) of Willard MO; 6 grandchildren, Betsy Lee (Don) of Willard MO, Melissa Heil (Steve) of Springfield MO, Bryan Chittum of Willard MO, Katie Dodd of Chicago IL, Amy Dodd and Zachary Parks of Chillicothe; 8 great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Tilman, and Alynn Heil of Springfield MO, Shelly Chittum, Rebekah and Cameron Lee of Willard Mo, Ivy Chittum and Easton Chittum of Willard; a brother Cleo Beaird of Blue Springs MO; nieces and nephews.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Leland and Lloyd Beaird; nephew Lee E. Beaird Jr.
The family requests memorials be made to Stephen Heil to help with Alynn Heil’s medical bills for the treatment of a brain tumor and left at the funeral home or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe MO .
There will be a private family burial.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday.
