James Christopher Anderson, Dawn, Mo., took his last cruise on earth on June 26, 2024. Jim was born March 11, 1951 to Hugh Patrick Anderson IV and Berneta (Utley) Anderson in Chillicothe, Mo., the sixth child of ten siblings. He graduated high school from Southwest R-1, Ludlow, Mo., in 1969. He attended college in Warrensburg, Mo., where he was involved in ROTC. On May 20, 1994, Jim married Marsha Stamper Hughes. She survives of the home. Jim was a member of the Dawn Federated Church where he served as a trustee for many years.
He was a volunteer fireman for the Dawn Fire Department for many years. He volunteered countless hours on fire calls in his community and also performing mechanical work on the fire trucks. Jim was a board member and very active in the Dawn Community Improvement Association. He loved his small community of Dawn and was proud to serve the village in many ways over the years. His entire career was built around automotive parts. He had his own business for many years. He always took pride in providing his customers with the right parts and also giving a little mechanical advice or turning a wrench on whatever project they had. Jim loved all things with a motor from motorcycles to go-karts. He especially enjoyed building, working on and admiring classic cars. He built a 1929 Ford "Rat-Rod" from the ground up, adding many special and unique touches that made the car truly one-of-a-kind. His latest project was restoring his 1955 Chevy BelAir. Jim also enjoyed fishing, dancing and attending car shows where he always came home with a trophy. His favorite thing to do was to spend time with his grandkids. Jim was a quiet, kind man. He was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need.
Other survivors include four sons, Jared Anderson and wife Laura of Blue Springs, Mo.; James Christopher Anderson II "Chip" and wife Heather of Blue Springs, Mo., David Hughes and wife Mary of Dawn, Mo., Matt Hughes and wife Amber of Dawn, Mo., and daughter, Megan Neis and husband Joe of Chillicothe, Mo., siblings Connie Rounkles of Dawn, Mo., Kay Cox of Lake Butler, Florida; Dee Kinsella and husband Pat of Wheeling, Mo., Debbie Neptune and husband Bud of Dawn, Mo., Tim Anderson of Carrollton, Mo., Theresa Wever and husband Kelly of Utica, Mo.; and Bill Anderson and wife Patty of Lake Ozark, Mo., brother-in-law Pat Stamper and wife Pam of Utica, Mo., sister-in-law Pam Russell of Dewitt, Michigan; 18 grandkids, 10 great-grandkids, and a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ben Anderson, and two brothers, Tom Anderson and Butch Anderson

Visitation will be a held at Heritage Funeral Home on Friday June 28,2024 at 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. with Celebration of Life to follow at 7:00p.m. Burial will take place at Stone Cemetery on Saturday June 29, 2024 at 10:00a.m one mile west of Utica, MO.
