James Earl McCort, 88, of Chillicothe MO passed away Friday, December 4, 2015 at Livingston Manor in Chillicothe, under the care of his family and Three River Hospice.
James was born March 3, 1927 in Kahoka, MO the son of James A McCort and Lula Colvin McCort. He attended schools in the Kahoka area.
On March 7, 1944, Jim entered the United States Navy. He served on the USS Aylwin, USS Jeruald, and USS Willoughby, receiving 3 Asiatic Pacific Stars and the Philippine Liberation Star. He was a Radarman Third Class.
Jim married Betty Louise Berry on November 19, 1988 at the 1st Christian Church in Chillicothe. She survives of the home.
He is also survived by a son, Phil McCort and wife Daylynn of Tulsa, OK; stepdaughters, Marsha Moore and husband Tom of Utica, MO, and Janet St. Onge of Trenton MO;10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three sisters, Reva, Velma and Mary; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Jeff and John McCort; 2 grandchildren; brother, Estol McCort and 4 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
Burial will be at Wheeling Cemetery, Wheeling MO.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the funeral service (10:00 a.m.) on Tuesday.
