Joan Lou Gilbert, 74, of Chillicothe, MO passed away Friday, December 20, 2013 at Indian Hills in Chillicothe.
Joan was born December 1, 1939 in San Francisco, CA the daughter of James Danny Rockwell and Dorothy Violet Clark Rockwell. She attended schools in California and after moving to Missouri 21 years ago, she attended North Central Missouri College in Trenton.
Joan worked as an LPN at Indian Hills in Chillicothe for 20 years before retiring.
She enjoyed reading, watching Food Network and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.
Joan is survived by her mother, Dorothy Rockwell; three sons, Clifford Bergesen, John Bergesen and James Bergesen; three daughters, Lori Decicio, Jennifer Slack, and Sandy Keyser; Joan raised her two granddaughters, Bethany Gamblin and April Stark since the time they were very young. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and a sister, Jackie Olson.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Rockwell.
Memorials in honor of Joan Gilbert may be made to the American Lung Association and left at or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington Chillicothe, MO 64601.
There has been a cremation.
Memorials services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, MO
Burial will be at a later date.
There is no scheduled visitation.
