Larry Dean Ward

     Larry Dean Ward 77, of Chula, MO passed away at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe, MO on January 29th, 2025. Larry was born to loving parents, Norman Ward, and Betty Ward on August 19, 1947. He attended Chillicothe High School and joined the Marine Corps soon after. Larry married Sherry King on June 10, 1968 in independence and together they built themselves a life surrounded by family and love. They could always be seen together while attending Alpha Baptist Church on Sundays. 

     Larry was known to enjoy hunting and woodwork. He also loved animals, especially those he kept on the farm. (Particularly his dog, Ms. Effie) But Larry loved being around his family the most and treasured every chance he could to be a part of their lives. He found great joy in spoiling his grand-babies and could not have been prouder of his children. 

     Larry is survived by his wife, Sherry Ward of Chula, MO. His two sons, Larry Dean Ward II with his wife Lora Ward, Timothy Ray Ward, and his wife Angela Ward. His daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Ward, and her husband Faron Peery. Larry is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, James Lightner, Christopher Lightner, Justin Lightner, Shelby Lightner, Levi Ray Ward, Cody Lynn Redman, Felicia Dawn White, Risha Aaron Peery, Bailey Leann Elrod, and Brooklynn Grace Peery. As well as 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

     Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Norman, and Betty Ward. Along with his grandparents. 

     A visitation service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Tuesday the 4th at 10am. A funeral service will follow at 11am.

     An inurnment will be held at Higginsville Veterans Cemetery at a later date. 

     Memorials in honor of Larry Dean Ward can be made out to Heritage Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
