Leland Richard Darr, 90,of Chillicothe, passed away Friday, August 12, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO.
Richard was born September 18, 1920 in Chillicothe, the son of Oscar Darr and Susan Edith Hutchison Darr.
He was a veteran, serving from May 1945 thru December 1946 in the United States Army during World War II in occupied Japan.
On October 2. 1952 Richard married his wife of 58 years, Rosa Lea Dowell at Calvary Baptist Church in Chillicothe. She survives of the home.
Richard was a bus driver for the Chillicothe R2 School District for 19 years and was also a life long farmer in the Chillicothe area.
He was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church in Chillicothe.
Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and was and avid gardener and liked cutting wood.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa Lea Darr, listed above and one daughter Retta Susan Darr of Chillicothe; several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Susan Darr; a sister, Alice Mitts and a brother, George Darr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 20011 at Olive Branch Baptist Church, Chillicothe, MO.
Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Chillicothe, MO.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at Olive Branch Baptist Church on Tuesday.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Monday, August 15, 2011 from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m.
