Leslie Shockey

Leroy Shockey, 82, of Chillicothe, MO passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Morningside Center in Chillicothe.
Leslie Leroy Shockey was born March 14, 1935 Trenton, MO, the son of Judd Shockey and Coral Stotts Shockey. He was a graduate of Trenton High School.
In his younger years Leroy did body shop work at a car lot and then decided to go into business for himself. He became a shoe cobbler and had his own boot shop in Chillicothe. He then became an excellent saddle maker.
On May 1, 1954 Leroy married Peggy Joan Foster at the Liberty Chapel in Trenton, MO. She preceded him in death on December 20, 2012.
He was a member of The Blue Mound Cowboy Church and enjoyed riding horses and fishing. His favorite times were spent with his children and grandchildren.
Leroy is survived by four children, Mark (Sherry) Shockey, Brenda (John) Gatson, Linda (Larry) McElwee, and Dan (Stephanie) Shockey all of Chillicothe, MO; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; a sister, Barbara (Rodger) Hawkins of Trenton; three sisters-in-law, Shirley (David) Pyrtle of Chula, MO, Joy Foster of Jefferson City, MO and Patricia Shockey of Oregon; and a good friend Shirley Trout of Breckenridge, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Peggy Joan; and a brother.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
Burial will be at Blue Mound Cemetery at a later date.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Home
