Michael Gilbert, Junior

Michael Shelborne Gilbert, Junior, 95, a life-long resident of Chillicothe MO passed away May 6, 2012 at Morningside Center in Chillicothe.
Junior Gilbert was born in Dewitt MO on January 4, 1917 to Michael Shelborne Gilbert Sr. and Lena Agnes Muck Gilbert.
He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army Air Force from Feb, 1942 thru Dec. 1945. Michael was a mechanic with the 22nd Repair SQ and attained the rank of Sergeant.
Junior farmed in the rural Chillicothe area for many years as well as working for Missouri Distributing and 30 years at the Lambert Glove Factory.
He is survived by a brother, Eugene Leroy Gilbert of Delta Junction, Alaska; a nephew, Elgin Gilbert Riggle of Snowflake, Arizona and a niece, Jennifer Ann (Gilbert) Potter of Chillicothe MO; several great nieces and nephews.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Marie (Gilbert) Riggle and a brother, William Celestine Gilbert.
A family visitation and memorial services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe MO.
