Michael Schoonover

Michael B. Schoonover, 53, of Dawn, Missouri, passed away on April 30th, 2019 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family, after a hard-fought battle against gastric cancer.

Michael was born on August 18, 1965 in Kirksville, Missouri to Emily Pauline Probasco and Jerry Mitchell Southern.  Mike is survived by both of his parents and stepmother, Liza Southern; his wife, Lisa (Seaton), and daughters: Jessica Mackie of Olathe, Kansas and Amanda Schoonover of Chillicothe, Missouri; grandchildren: Lena and Simona Mackie, and Dayahna and Damian White; brothers: Tommy (Bobby) Wheeler of Unionville, Missouri, David (Kaci) Probasco of Chillicothe, Missouri, Joe Probasco of Seward, Nebraska and Mitchell (Teresa) Southern of Cameron, North Carolina; and sisters: Caye (Dan) Jeffrey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Julie (Gene) Weir of Olathe, Kansas.

Mike was known to family and friends as an outgoing guy with a great sense of humor.  He was an outdoor enthusiast who loved football, motorcycles and music.  Mike, a devoted husband and proud father, loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren later in life.  Somewhat a jack of all trades, he spent his life doing a variety of work including construction, coaching football and management.  In 2003, Mike obtained his realtor license, which he kept current while also managing Iseman Homes in Chillicothe, Missouri.  Mike loved and lived life to the fullest with tenacity and determination.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 11th at 3 pm at Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N Washington Street, Chillicothe, Missouri.  Visitation with the family will be held prior to the services from 2-3 pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The V Foundation for Cancer Research.
