Mona Yvonne Ewing (Hinshaw) Claussen passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Morningside Center in Chillicothe, MO. She was born on August 14, 1928, the third child of Ida (Plaster) and Otis Ewing , in the Wheeling, MO area.
Mona is survived by husband Lawrence Claussen of the home; one daughter Debra Hinshaw Gubany of St. Louis, MO; one son Craig Hinshaw and wife Mariann of Venice, FL; two sisters, Wanda McDaneld and Joyce and husband Richard Dowell, both of Chillicothe; four grandchildren, Paul and wife Abbey Gubany and Beau and wife Sarah Gubany, all of St. Louis, MO, Stephanie Tuender of Clearwater, FL and Lindsey and husband Spencer Thompson of Venice, FL. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Eugene Ewing.
Mona graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1946. During her life, Mona spent time working at Mart Drug Store, Citizens Bank & Trust, Engleman Shoes, and Dewey and Field Elementary Schools. She and her late husband, Carl Hinshaw, owned and ran a fireworks stand in Chillicothe for many summers.
On August 15, 1997, Mona and Lawrence Claussen were united in marriage. She loved to attend area auctions and shop for antiques. She dotted on her children and grandchildren. Mona is a member of Cornerstone Church of Chillicothe.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Cornerstone Church in Chillicothe.
Burial will be at Wheeling Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Heritage Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
