Nylie Eugene Williams, 72, of Chillicothe, Missouri, slipped away to be with the Lord on April 11, 2025, at home surrounded with love. Nylie (Gene) was born on February 15, 1953, in Kiblah, Arkansas to Eugene Williams and Leo (Mathis) Williams.
Gene was a faithful member and trustee of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Chillicothe, Missouri. He was known for his baking magic which he shared with everyone. He was also skilled on the grill. Gene worked in the fields of construction and concrete with his father and various other contractors for many years. He was valued for his integrity and his attention to detail in his work. He was happiest ‘with his feet in the mud’ or watching people enjoy his cooking.
He is survived by his wife, Rosaline; his daughter, Neetra Williams; son, Phillip Williams; daughter, Lauren Epps; and son, Chad Epps. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren Cynthia Marshall; Michael Williams; Harper, Ava, Gracie, and Josiah Williams. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren India, Noah, and Alijah Williams; his sister, Charlotte Williams; along with numerous uncles, nieces, and nephews. Gene will be remembered for his generosity and his dedicated love to his wife and family.
A Home-going Celebration will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 601 Waples in Chillicothe, Missouri. The visitation will be from 11:00 am -12:00 pm. The Celebration of Gene’s life will begin at Noon. The Internment to be held at South Cemetery in Chillicothe, Mo.
Donations may be made to the PATCH organization at the Chillicothe Correctional Center or the American Cancer Society and left at the church.
A memorial service will be held in Kansas City, Missouri at a later date.
Gene will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
