Peggy L. Sams, 75, of Chillicothe, MO died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at her residence, under the care of her children and Hospice Advantage of Gallatin, MO.
Peggy was born December 27, 1935 in Mooresville, MO the daughter of George Walter Hightower and Hazel Lucille Gilliland Hightower. She was a member of the last class to graduate from Mooresville High School.
Peggy was a social worker/youth specialist for the Training School for Girls in Chillicothe until it closed, she then worked at a group home in Kansas City and later returned to Chillicothe to work for the Division of Family Services until retirement.
In April of 1970 Peggy married Clarence Leroy Sams in Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 2001.
Peggy was a member of the Church of Christ of Chillicothe.
She is survived by her father, George Walter Hightower of Mooresville, MO; four children, Connie Sue Koehly and husband, Gary of Chillicothe, Cindy Rader of Bates City, MO, Bill Cummings and wife, Debra of Chillicothe, and Tim Cummings of Bates City, MO; a step son Chet Sams of Las Vegas, NV; 14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Barbara Hightower of Utica, MO and one nephew.
Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Gilliland Hightower; husband Clarence Sams; brother, Bill Hightower and nephew, Douglas Hightower.

Funeral services are scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, MO
Burial will be at Mooresville Cemetery, Mooresville, MO.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2011 at Heritage Funeral Home.
