Robert Leon Midgyett, 77, of Chillicothe, MO passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.
Robert was born February 19, 1937 in Meadville, MO the son of Thomas Lee Midgyett and Clare Etta Bentley Midgyett.
At 17, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served from 1954 thru 1961. He was part of an aviation support group.
On June 8, 2014 Robert married Bonnie Sue Reeder at Mt. Zion Church in Chillicothe. She survives of the home.
Robert worked at Donaldsons in Chillicothe for over 33 years and for the last few years he was a fork lift operator.
He was an active member of the Freedom Worship Center in Chillicothe and the American Legion Post 1000 in Jefferson City, MO.
Being the oldest living male in a large family, Robert was a role model for the youngsters, teaching them how to become kind, caring and responsible adults.He enjoyed fishing and singing at weddings and funerals and loved music in general. He had fun playing bingo at the American Legion in Chillicothe and was also very skilled at playing cards.
Robert is survived by his wife Bonnie, of the home; a son, Robert Shane Midgyett (Kathy) of Chillicothe; daughter, LeTonia Smith (Aaron) of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren DeEll, Danielle, Kayde, Silas, Destinee and Maliq; a brother, Howard Midgyett of Chillicothe; sisters, Edna Bruce of Oklahoma City, OK and Gloria Midgyett of Chillicothe; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Shawn Simpson; brothers, Roy Lee, Ray, Martin, Paul, Richard, and Clarence; and sisters, Etta Mae, Vivian, and Nancy.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2014 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe Mo.
Burial will be at Meadville Cemetery, Meadville MO.
A family visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Heritage Funeral Home
