Rosalie Ruth Hapes, 89, of Chillicothe MO died Sunday, August 30, 2015 at her residence.
Rosalie was born December 24, 1925 in rural Linn County area, near Meadville. She was the daughter of Charles Overton Surber and Cotis Loraine Goff Surber. Rosalie was a 1943 graduate of Chillicothe High School and attained an Associate’s Degree from Chillicothe Business College in 1944.
On January 11, 1947 Rosalie married Edward Alfred Hapes in Kansas City, MO. He preceded her in death.
She worked helping Edward on the farm, devoting the rest of her time to the care of her family, with special time being given for the care of their daughter, Kathy.
Rosalie was a member of Shepard’s Chapel, and the American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary. She was always willing to help any organization or person in need.
She was totally devoted to her family and enjoyed cooking for them. Rosalie made cookbooks for each member of her family so that their favorite recipes would always be there for them. She also loved to crochet and knit, and she made each of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren afghans. There were extras made in case a great grandchild should be born after her passing.
Rosalie’s survivors include two sons, Ronald Hapes and wife Marion of Chillicothe, and Randy Hapes and fiancé Mary Peterie of Chillicothe; two sisters, Betty Pittman of St. Joseph MO, and Joan Kohrs and husband don of Chillicothe; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward; daughter, Kathy; and brother, Charlie Surber.

Funeral services will be held to 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Chillicothe.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Home
