Ruth Cunningham

Ruth Hammond Cunningham, 89, of Blue Springs, MO formerly of Laredo and Chillicothe, MO passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Center Point Medical Center, Independence, MO, surrounded by her family.

Ruth Catherine Cunningham was born October 21, 1922 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Jess Garfield Warren and Floy Ardenia Smiley Warren (deceased).

She married Bill D. Cunningham on June 17, 1967, he survives of the home.

Ruth worked as a Registered Nurse until she was 69 years old, working at the Veteran’s Hospital and the Medical Center of Independence.

Ruth was a lover of Nature, especially flowers and animals, but her greatest enjoyment was family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; daughter, Beverly Hale Fowler of Lee’s Summit; son, Douglas Hammond (Yuko) of Independence; 4 grandchildren, Pamela (Devan) Brown, Scott (Marie) Hale, William Hammond and Sherry Hammond; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.

Ruth was a precious gift to her family which shall be treasured in their hearts forever.

Memorials in honor of Ruth Cunningham may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and left at the funeral home or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, MO 64601. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, with visitation at 12:00 noon.

Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe.

Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, MO.
