Theodore Phil Hagen

     Phil Hagen, 90-years old and longtime resident of Utica passed away on April 18th, 2025 and went to heaven to join his wife, Marlys, who passed away April 5th, 2025. Phil was born on August 5th, 1934 in Nidaros Township in Otter Tail County, MN. to Othar and Hannie Hagen. He was one of eleven children. Phil lived and worked in Evansville, MN when he met his future bride. He and Marlys were married on August 30th, 1958 in Elbow Lake, MN and were married for 66 years. They moved to Utica and lived there 60-years. Phil worked for Donaldson’s Mfg. for 32 years until retirement.

     Phil is survived by two daughters, Fay Dowell of Utica, MO., and Beth Riley (Tom) of Kansas City, MO. Five grandchildren, Jennifer Dowell, St. Joe, MO., Jarrod Dowell (Heather) St. Joe, MO., Jason Dowell (Kylie) Shawnee, KS., Sam Riley (Kat) Liberty, MO and Jake Riley of Kansas City, MO. Phil also had seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren

     Phil is preceded in death by his wife Marlys, parents, Othar and Hannie Hagen; five brothers - Carlton, Leland, Roger, Marlow, and Wallace Hagen and five sisters - Faye Hagen, Ione Walberg, Violet Haabala, DeEtte Thompson and Adeline Schlosser.

     Phil was a Veteran of the US Army and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chillicothe, MO.

     A private life celebration will be held. Memorial donations can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
