Vivian Ruth (Myers) Cooper, 91, of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 22, St. Luke's North hospital with her four daughters at her side.
Vivian was born in Mesick, Michigan, on December 10, 1925, the daughter of Cleo E. and Ida Marie Randall Myers. Even though she had no siblings, her life was blessed with an extended family of her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Her daughters grew up hearing stories about Uncle Charley, Aunt Leona, Grandma Randall, Clarence and Cousin Rena.
As a young woman she spent time traveling with her father's evangelistic team, planting churches from Alabama to Michigan. They ministered in the west to Native American tribes and at revival meetings In Michigan. Vivian played saxophone, piano and accordion in her father's quartet and was an accompanist for the original Blackwood Brothers quartet.
Vivian attended Business College and worked as a bookkeeper in Kansas City. She married Doyle Elmo Cooper on April 17, 1954 and moved to Chillicothe, Missouri in 1960.
They were the parents of Janet (David) Zullig of Carrollton, Cynthia (Dave) Harness of Ottawa, Kansas, Rhonda Russ of Gaithersburg, Maryland and Christy Cooper of Woodbridge, Virginia.
While raising four daughters and teaching them to play piano, Vivian was active in her church in various capacities, worked for Chillicothe Lumber, Still's Construction Company and retired from Donaldson's.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1988 and several sisters-in-law.
Survivors include her daughters, grandchildren Leah Zullig, Zachary (Holly) Zullig, Bryson (Alisha) Zullig, Dr. Jennifer (Joe) Yoest, Wesley Russ, Nathaniel Russ, Emily Russ and Eric Russ ... and three great-grandchildren, Mekayla, Riley and Milo.
Memorials in honor of Vivian Cooper may be made to the Free Methodist Church and left at or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, MO 64601 on line condolences may be left at www.heritage-becausewecare.com
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27 at Heritage Funeral Home with Reverend Christopher Leach presiding.
Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe.
Visitation will be Monday, December 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home.
